I’ve come to discover that springtime in the desert is my favorite time of year. After living through many hot, dry summers it somehow seems like magic that there’s such colorful life during spring.
The first to bloom is usually the Castilleja or paintbrush flower. It’s bright red flowers stand out from the sandstone, sage bush and rabbit brush fields. Though I’ve only seen the red paintbrush in the desert other places have orange, yellow and even purple flowers.
I can’t wait to go see all the colors of the Castilleja!
